The Lord can always use you for something, even if it is just for a bad example.
Ok, it is time to
write an email detailing this weeks events. (Alternative Subject Line was
"Mountains to Climb", but I went with the best quote from Sunday
School this week instead)
Last preparation day
we went hiking with half of the district in Sun Valley. Sun Valley is
home to the world’s first chair lift, and we hiked the mountain (Proctor) that
it was constructed on.
Here are pictures
(feat. TREES!?!):
Our [not] pet was
meowing and patting at the window by Elder Silva's bed when we got up in the
morning (we are on the second floor). So we opened the window to take it back
downstairs.
Elder Silva likes lint rollers.
Another perk of
serving in Sun Valley is that we have a mountain in our backyard. So for our
morning exercise on Saturday we tried to see how far up we could get before we
had to go back. We had some members come with us. We didn't make it even
halfway, but we did get high enough to get tired and a good view.
Other than that we
have still been contacting people and trying to figure out who is really ready
to learn more and keep commitments. We have also had our first set of
"real" lessons with people. That is still my favorite part of
missionary work. Finding isn't always that fun, teaching people is where it is
at.
Also, Elder Silva is
applying to colleges. I'm not even trunky though.
Advice of the week: Exercise and read the Book of Mormon and/or the Bible in
the morning. It helps a LOT!
Love you all!

Q & A
1. Do you need anything? Did you find a raincoat?
Oof. More miles? So, I
may have been a bit misleading. I want a jacket that is the same size and style
of the north face jacket I have, but made of a material that is more
water-resistant and lint-resistant. I found one that I liked at a thrift shop
up here but it was too small. We will look later today. I will send pictures of
examples if I don't find one today.
2. Do you have any
questions for me?
How are the elections
going? Who is going to be new? Dougie gone?
3. Best day this
week?
Oof. I cannot honestly
answer that question. Exchanges with Elder Fjerstad were really cool. He is
waiting on a visa for Madagascar. But he can also speak Spanish. That was on
Tuesday.
4. Best meal this
week?
We had dinner with
this family from Mexico in Dietrich. It was a lot of food that tasted really
good and I ate too much of it. There was rice, beans, chicken, salsa, and
tortillas. But it was all really good and I was hungry.
5. What made you laugh
this week?
Elder Silva cleaning a
cat with a lint roller.
6. Song
recommendation? Haven’t asked for one lately.
7. Uplifting quote of
the week?
...hmm. I'm not sure
how uplifting it is but the one from my email is all I can think of. "The
Lord can always use you for something. Even if it is just for a bad
example." -B.P.
8. Miracles this
week?
P, a young man up here
has submitted his mission papers and will get his call by email later this
week. Fingers crossed for ALRM... Idk if it counts as a miracle, but it was
definitely something really cool.
9. Fun p day options
in your area?
Well, today we are
going to hike to a volcano next to the Shoshone ice caves north of Shoshone.
The problem is IDK if we will have enough miles!!! Yay! Also we aren't exactly
sure where we can legally park/hike. Lots of unknowns but we are just jumping
into it. There is just a lot of hiking we can do. Luckily the month will be
ending on Wednesday so we will get more miles then.
10. What did you learn
this week?
That it is hard to
apply to BYU-Idaho when you are from Peru.
Also we did our
District Council using a video chat thing to save miles. I liked it. But there
are definitely some bugs to work out.
LOVE YOU! I'm gonna
have to write the other emails kinda quickly because I've been helping Elder
Silva sign up for an English Fluency test in Boise this Saturday WHILE writing
these emails.
In Conclusion,
LOVE YOU!
