El Rayo Mas Fuerte De La Historia

Hola! Here we are again. This week has gone by very quickly due to the fact that life is currently quite good. Here is a recap (with pictures).
Obligatory "Welcome to [New area]" picture. (above)

We went to Carey for the first time. On the way we drove through a town called "Picabo" (Peek-A-Boo) not even kidding. We actually thought it was Carey when we first got there but we found out that it was still around another bend.
We found a few people there that spoke Spanish and were able to spend a good part of the day there. Carey borders the Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve. So we got out of the car and took some pictures with the lava.

We also went to the other small towns that we cover now. One of which is called Richfield. Richfield is located in the middle of nowhere. There are cows here and people have pet sheep tied up in their front yards:

We also went to the church building:
Capilla (en medio de la nada)

If you ever wondered why there are always signs on church refrigerators that say "hey, don't leave food in the refrigerator" it is because
1. Food is gross when it goes bad
2. Missionaries have keys to church buildings and like snacks
Las Reglas Son Reglas

We had district council this week. It went well, we then had lunch and did studies at the Shoshone Elder's apartment. They live in an abandoned hotel/movie theater thing. So we did some exploring.

More Peruvian culture. This week we were given some "Inca Kola." It is good. Only available in Peru and anywhere else Peruvians can be found.

The work goes forth! We have been tracting and it works here. IT WORKS! Like, we can knock on doors, and people have no idea who we are. It’s AWESOME.
Have Fun! Enjoy Life! Be Safe!
Love you! Bye!

Q & A

1. Do you need anything? Let me know if you need any ramen or snack refills. I don’t mind specific details!! Snacks or anything else.

I'm going to go thrift shopping today to try and find a rain jacket. Thanks for the food though! It got us stocked up for a while! Still trying to figure out the best place to get meds though.

2. Best day this week?

Every single day this week was the best day. IDK why, but life is just GOOD right now. We have lots of people to teach. Lots of things to do.There hasn't been a single negative thing since I've gotten here.

3. Spiritual highlight this week?

We were on our way back from Dietrich and arrived back in Bellevue at about 8:45. Elder Silva said, "It is only 8:45." So I turned back out of the driveway and we went to contact someone the Hermanas were teaching before, but we had been unable to contact. Sure enough, when we got there at 8:50ish she was home and answered the door. We invited her to church (she didn't come, but we were able to set up another appointment this week). So it wasn't quite a "4th floor, last door" as much as a "1st floor, but let's try one more door" experience.

That and all the other times we felt like we needed to talk to someone and then they actually wanted to talk to us. (See answer to number 2)

4. Best meal this week? How often are you being fed by the members in this area?

We have meals every night. The best meal this week was... Probably burgers with a family in Dietrich, we haven't had burgers in a while.

5. What made you laugh this week?

We were at a member families house (they speak almost exclusively Spanish), and one of them was telling us about the new season of Sword Art Online. He showed us what the thumbnail thing looked like and it said something like "Sword Art Online: Alicization". So I asked "Que significa 'Alicization'?". Elder Silva looked at me and said. "...That is English."

Oh.

I'm still not convinced that it is English though.

6. Where do you do your laundry?

There is a washer and drier in a closet in the garage beneath us.

7.  What are you studying? What did you learn?

We are currently reading the Book of Mormon as a mission and highlighting all of the times any of the names of Jesus Christ are mentioned. I am just finishing 2nd Nephi, I have found a lot of cool verses that I like. One of them being 2 Nephi 27:23 - For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith.

8. How are your workouts going?

Pretty good. This week was mostly push-ups and burpees and occasionally bench presses. We found out that there is a trail to go up the mountain behind our house, so we are going to try to see how far up it we can go in 15 minutes (so it is a 30 minute workout) this week.

9. Are you sleeping well?

Yes I AM!!! Our house has really comfy beds with like 4-inch memory foam toppers. Also, they have this app that they approved us to use called "calm" it has music and stuff and... ASMR. Not even kidding, I guess I was just ahead of the curve. You have to pay to listen to that stuff though. So we just use it to play white noise like rain (which Idaho is still currently lacking) or campfires or something like that.

10. Any questions for me?

Elder Silva was telling me about a book he has read called "Day of Defense" it sounds cool.

Alright. We are at a different library today and this computer is acting different. So I'd better get started on my weekly email now! Lots of pictures! Thanks for the updates!

LOVE YOU!

-Spencer
