I am in the mission office now. I made it safe. We had some lessons and orientation in the mission office/church building.  Also, there is an Elder Hinshaw here, we are probably related.  We also got to go out and teach today. The first family I tried to invite to the  Meridian Idaho Temple   open house in Spanish. It was a bit hard, they were just going for a walk. About half way through the oldest member of the group informed me that the younger woman spoke English. SO I was able to make sense for the rest of the invitation. We talked to some more people and then found a man who I initially thought was trolling us. Then I found out he was just very intoxicated and high. SO that was pretty fun. Anyway, I also had an interview with President Bartlett. He is really cool, I told him about the Dump Truck dream and he told me "You know, you think you've heard everything." He also told me that he knew a little bit about that. I asked him if he meant tablets

Last week in the MTC!

Hello! I don't know what to say this week, things are going good. Sunday: I didn't have to give a talk today. The devotional was really good, it was the Provo Temple President and Matron. Choir was also really fun today. We sang   "The Morning Breaks" Monday: Once again, I think I just repress this day each week. Must've been fairly normal I guess. Tuesday:  Elder Blashill was sick so I had to stay with him in the morning. We still went to choir and the Devotional. I sat next to Elder Wattene, one of the missionaries who got here a day early with me. He is from New Zealand and is going to Thailand. He tried to translate my name into Thai. I put his translation into Google Translate. Apparently the closest thing to Spencer in Thai means sliced pineapple.  The devotional was very, very good. It was Elder Quentin L. Cook . One of the things he talked about was how we get our mission calls. It felt like he was talking to me. He said that t

This is the best way I can organize this email, one day at a time. Sunday: This Sunday was objectively better than last Sunday. Because I got to eat breakfast and lunch. Me and Elder Blashill got assigned to teach both Priesthood and Sunday school. Elder Blashill basically covered the Priesthood lesson and I did the Sunday school. The Priesthood lesson was about the Priesthood and Sunday school was about enduring to the end. We were afraid that they were going to have us give a talk in sacrament meeting too but we got off free there. More about fasting:  Fast Sunday Later in the day we went to choir, this week we sang "Nearer, my God to Thee" . It was really good. Brother Eggett told us the story of Esau and Jacob (in a very unique way) between singing, apparently that is what the song is about. Never realized it before but it makes sense   1. Nearer, my God, to thee, Nearer to thee! E’en though it be a cross That raiseth me. Still all my song

Hello! My  response comes late today because our district decided that we needed to go to the temple first thing in the morning. But I did eat in the cafeteria at the temple and it was the best food I have had in a month, so it was a great trip. It is still quite crowded but I can tell that it is getting better, some days the cafeteria line is still at "nope" levels. Devotionals were good this week. Fast Sunday was busy, we had a "mission conference" after sacrament meeting, and later on we had the Sunday devotional which was President Weidman, who is the second counselor in the MTC presidency. Speaking of the MTC presidency, President Martino, MTC President, has a very southern accent. We looked him up and he is from Denton, Texas. But Sister Martino, who is the MTC Relief Society President, was born in Morrilton. She actually told me this the first day I was here, but since I had just arrived I didn't know who she was. This Week

Short update this week since nothing much has happened.  I started running this week, I expected it to be rough because I am out of shape and I'm at a higher altitude. But I only made it 16 laps the first time, which I thought was one mile, but I later found out that it is 10 laps to a mile so that's good. We have several new investigators, all of the lessons have gone well and the Spanish isn't too much of a hindrance. There was one time when Elder Blashill was explaining how to pray and told him to end by saying "en el nombre de Jesucristo, Amen", but I was zoned out and sat up and said "Amen!" There was an awkward pause, then Elder Blashill continued to talk and I tried in vain to stop my silent nervous laughter for several seconds. I eventually did. It ended up being alright. There are a lot of people in el CCM because a lot of people had to stay another week due to visa issues and Hurricane Harvey. Mealtimes are insane. I st
