🌄
(Sun [in a] Valley)
(Because that is where I am)

Yep, I got transferred out of Declo. It was hard saying goodbye to all the people that I met down there but it is time to move on to something new.

Our last preparation day was pretty fun though, we went to Mt. Harrison and Lake Cleveland again. There was some snow and frost up there already, so WINTER IS COMING.

 Bye Declo:

Saw some cool people at transfers though!

Also, my new companion is Elder Silva! He was also trained by Elder Hodge (who is now in the "real world"), hopefully he is proud of us!

(blue razorback grill we saw in Dietrich)

Oh, and he is from Peru, which helps a lot with the previously mentioned famous and Peruvian people here.

Hailey Spanish
Also known as "Sun Valley Spanish" because we cover far more than just Hailey, Idaho. We cover the Hailey 1st ward (which contains a Spanish Group that meets twice a month), and the entire Carey Idaho Stake for Spanish. The borders of this stake are massive. It includes the cities of (get Google maps ready): Ketchum, Hailey, Bellevue, Carey, Shoshone, and Dietrich. There are also a ton of Peruvians and famous people here. So you could say it is quite diverse.

Since we are whitewashing we have just been talking to everyone we can find to see what is going on. We already have a decent pool of people to teach and who are interested.

Here are the pictures we have taken, so far:

It is really pretty (and expensive) here!

This weeks subject line comes from this cat.

Who likes to run in to our house (and car) when we open the door. We keep kicking it out but it must think this is a game or something. To be fair, it is pretty cold outside.

That is all for now! Have a great week!

Q & A

1. Hailey! How many wards/cities does your area cover?

I mentioned in my weekly email, but we cover the entire Carey Stake for Spanish, which is massive. We have about 2000 monthly miles and a bike rack to help cut down on those.

2. District Leader! How many missionaries in your district and what areas do they cover?

English Elders in Sun Valley (Sun Valley Ward, Hailey 2nd, Carey 1st and 2nd), Gooding Elders (Gooding and Fairfield), and Shoshone Elders (Shoshone, Dietrich, and Richfield)

3. Do you have a car? What kind?

Oh yeah, 2017 Nissan Rogue, just like the last one. We can start it with the key fob. That will be nice when the winter really starts in this ski resort town.

4. What are the details about your living arrangements? House? Apartment? Etc.

We live in a small apartment above some members garage. Real estate is very pricey here. We have a microwave, toaster oven, and hot plate. Although it is small it is really nice and has very pretty views. You can see the stars really well at night.

5. Have you had meals with any members in the new area yet? What was the best meal this week?

We had dinner with some Peruvians last night. It turns out that I love Uchukuta sauce. It was some chicken with rice and potatoes and sweet potatoes.

6. Elder Silva, you’ve mentioned him before, from Peru, easy to get along with. What other qualities does he have that will make this a great transfer or transfers?

This video will explain everything.

(Video of Elder Silva singing House of Gold by twenty one pilots 😍)

7. Best day this week?

Sunday, we went to the Spanish group and had lots of lessons/people to teach. I forgot what it is like to do Spanish work. (It is awesome)

8. Hardest day this week?

Thursday was rough finding the apartment and getting settled in. I was tired. It is about an 1 1/2 hour drive to Bellevue (where we live) from Twin Falls.

9. What made you laugh this week?

See answer for #6, also everything else. I'll have to look more specifically. Elder Silva is the king of one-liners.

10. Do you need anything?

It may be time for another food box. Food (like everything else) is really expensive here. Albertsons is the cheapest and it is the most expensive Alberstons in the country. Ramen and snacks would be appreciated!

11. Do you have any questions for me?

History of Hailey/Sun Valley? Famous people who live here? Brother R (In Hansen) told me something about the Union Pacific building the resort here.

12. What did you learn this week?

The WML in Dietrich has a niece who is a Chiropractor in Beebe.

13. Where are the rest of the missionaries you’ve served with now?

Elder Hodge is home, he is proud of Elder Silva and I reclaiming an area from the Hermanas. (part 2 for me since we whitewashed Burley)
Elder Marin is home
Elder Snow- Boise
Elder Gaston- Burley ZL
Elder Blashill- Buhl
Elder Livingston- Declo
