Mountains High and White

HI EVERYONE!

We had transfer calls this week...

Everyone stayed.

We went to Lake Cleveland last Monday. It was definitely worth it. There was some rain coming in and we could hear the thunder. We were going to skip rocks, but there were a lot of people fishing, so we just kinda looked at it...

Anyway, the most exciting story from this week came from service.
(I'm going to quote Elder Blashill's email because he tells it pretty good and I'm out of time sorry!)

Elder Blashill:
"This stuff smells like mold!"
Guy we were helping:
"Did you just say 'let's smoke a bowl'??"
Elder Blashill:
"... No..."
Guy we were helping:
*visibly disappointed* "oh."
"Well if I thought you'd say yes, I'd offer you a bowl! I haven't had mine yet this morning."
Elder Blashill:
"Well we appreciate your hospitality nonetheless!"

The guy we were helping then began to talk about the cleansing and healing properties of smoking Marijuana. Classic.

We had fun and they need service. They're good people!

We also went up to the senior citizens lunch with J in Albion. Lots of nice people there. The man who runs the Albion Heritage Center (something like that) gave a presentation on the history, rise, and fall of the city of Albion. It was pretty fascinating. They used to be the county seat, then they lost the railroad, they closed the college, moved the county seat to Burley, and they have been shrinking ever since. He also told us that the name "Albion" means "mountains high and white" IDK what language that is in, but they can fit a lot of detail in one word!

It has been a good week for missionary work as well. We got to meet with a part-member family we haven't been able to for a while. And we are teaching more regularly. I'll tell you, time goes by VERY slow when you don't have anything to do, but we are finding more (productive) stuff to do now!

Love you all! Sorry for the shorter email this week. Transfer week is just strange sometimes. Here are pictures though!

Oh yeah, we also got these from someone we visit, he asked us if we have ever seen a "Mormon Dollar" before. He said it was the money they used when they first came out west.

It was a washer. We looked confused and he said "It's already got the ten percent taken out."

So I did some engraving... BTW: Mormon was a hardcore dude, engraving things on metal is really hard (especially with a pair of scissors)

Love you all!

Q & A and more:

Thank you for the email! I think I enjoy hearing about what is going down at home as much as y'all like hearing about what is going on up here!

1. Do you need anything?
I think I will be good for right now, I just finished off that journal and am working on the new one. It's kinda crazy!

2. Best day this week?
Sunday was a very busy day for us. We had 4 appointments and we pretty much got to go to all of them. As a result however, we had to miss snow cone Sunday... It was still good though.

3. What made you laugh this week?
When we were doing service and the guy misunderstood “It smells like mold”

4. What are you most looking forward to this coming week?
J’s Baptism. There will be a lot of people there.

5. How has your testimony grown since leaving home?  How has the atonement strengthened you as a missionary?
It has grown a lot. I've just began to notice all of the times I have been guided in the past that I just assumed was chance. Also, around here, people are just more accepting of faith. It is strange, but I felt like there were just a lot of people back home who believed in nothing. Jesus Christ suffered far more than he deserved, people say life isn't fair. But really it is more than fair, we don't "deserve" anything we are given, but we have it anyway. No matter how hard anything is, it isn't as hard as it could be (or should be).

6. What do you like about Elder Blashill?
He has a joke about everything.

7. Best meal this week?
Hmm, we had some really good "white people" tacos. They had pineapple or something like that in them too.

8. Any questions for me?
We had dinner with the Robinson family this week. Dan and Lori. They are from Evanston, Wyoming. I asked them if they knew any Limb's and they said there were a ton of them over there. Do any of our relatives know the Robinson family who lives in Burley now?

9. Have we ever ridden a Duck boat in Branson as a family? Seriously you’re our last hope of answering this one because you remember being 3, right?

(Sadly, It has come up because of this tragedy: BRANSON, Mo. -- Seventeen people were killed when a duck boat packed with tourists capsized and sank in high winds on a Missouri lake overnight, Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader announced on social media Friday. The driver of the Ride the Ducks boat died but the captain survived when the boat sank Thursday night in Table Rock Lake in the Branson area, Rader said earlier at a press conference.)

I heard about that, I don't think we have. Not because I remember, but I do remember asking if we had when "undercover boss" was a thing. I also knew that one of those had sunk before. Really sad all around.

Sorry again for the shorter emails! LOVE YOU!!!!!!

Next summer, Lindsey will come home from UCA, Syd from ASMSA, and I from Idaho. Even though it will be a quiet fall and spring, it'll all come rushing back at once.

LOVE YOU!

-Spencer
