Boise Blitz!

OK! CRAZY WEEK! LET'S DO IT. I have my journal with me so I can be more accurate this time.

Monday:

I did more plumbing! This time it was the bathroom sink drain. No pictures because nobody needs to suffer through that. I also tightened the toilet seat so it doesn't try to kill me when I use it. We went to Panda Express and a nice man tried to give us money to buy our lunch, we told him we weren't supposed to accept that, and he told us that if we didn't take the money he would just follow us up to the front of the line and pay before we could pay for it, so he got to pay. People here are REALLY nice. After Preparation Day ended we visited a few people including a less-active/part member family. She likes to argue/bash, I like to argue/bash. However I am not supposed to argue/bash. This was difficult for me, but it was all OK in the end. They are really nice people.

THEN, when me and Elder Hodge returned to our house and were writing down miles in the dark. I saw eyes right in front of the windshield looking at me. I screamed. Elder Hodge screamed. I screamed again because Elder Hodge's scream was unexpected. Elder Hodge saw the eyes too and heard my second scream, so he screamed again. I'm sure the cat on the hood of the car was just confused and wanted food, because it didn't scream. But it did meow several times and never left the hood of the car. And I know the member family we were living with thought we were complete weirdos...  Anyway, we laughed about the demon cat incident at random intervals for a few days after it happened.

Tuesday:

We were looking for a member of the YSA to visit. We knocked on the door and the 1st Counselor in the Branch Presidency opened the door. So that was the wrong house. Later on we had two different appointments, one at 5 and another at 6. So we decided we were going to go hardcore and cancelled our dinner appointment so we could go to both of the teaching appointments. Neither of them were home. So I had Campbell's Chipotle Chicken Corn Chowder for dinner. It was good. After that we just went knocking doors in an area with a very high Hispanic population for the rest of the night. We also had a correlation meeting at some point in there.

Wednesday:

Zone Conference happened. We got flu shots, I got a cool picture of Jesus there were brownies and we found out that we were going to Boise for two days on Friday and Saturday (Spoiler Alert for Friday and Saturday). After Zone Conference we visited the Navajo Family again. They went back to Arizona this week and as we taught it became apparent that she needs to be taught in Navajo. So we are going to send in a referral to Arizona so she can be taught down there. Surely they have Navajo-Speaking missionaries where she lives. She also told us some cool things about her culture. It was fun. They did however also have all of the burners on the stove on to heat the house and it was HOT in there. So my face was bright red and my eyes felt weird by the time we left.

Also, President Bartlett keeps alluding to big changes coming up. So that's interesting.

Thursday:

We visited a YSA who has a smoking problem. He said he has tried everything to quit but he keeps doing it because there is nothing else to do. We are trying to keep him motivated. At some point during this I asked him if he had tried vaping. Elder Hodge laughed, apparently he hasn't heard a missionary say that before. Anyway, hopefully he will quit, he is really young and smokes a lot. After that we went and knocked a few more doors. One family we started talking to in Spanish, then they proceeded to talk about us in Spanish, in front of us. The daughter said we were Jehovah's Witnesses. As soon as she said that, I told them that we were not (y que no queremos luchar). Then (still in Spanish) she told her Dad to say that they were Catholic, then he told us the exact same thing she said to us. So, that was interesting.

Later on we were in the building and tried to translate for a man who wanted to talk to a bishop. The only person who was there was the Branch President (who doesn't speak English). We were late for an appointment and had to leave, and also couldn't explain well enough what the man wanted. So he got angry and left and we went to our appointment. We didn't think there would be a man in the house so we invited Hno. Martinez (1st counselor in the branch presidency) He basically did the teaching for us.

Friday:

WE went to BOISE! We left early in the morning. Once we got there they split us up to invite people in different areas. The first place I went to was the BSU campus. Everyone there was fairly interested and in just 45 minutes we had 3 new investigators. After that we went and had a tour of the Meridian Temple. It was VIP tour day and President Bartlett was able to get us in. After that we went out for the rest of the day to invite people to the open house. People in Boise are ruder than in Burley. And I definitely have some interesting stories there. The picture of the valley I have at the bottom is from the area we were inviting people on Friday. Later on we went to the mission home and ate food with the President.

Saturday:

I AM OUT OF TIME? OK SUPER FAST MODE.

We went to Boise North Zone to invite people today. We got to pick our companions and I chose Elder Hinshaw (duh). He actually just joined two years ago, so if he is related it is probably pretty far back. There were a few more rude people but for the most part it wasn't as bad as Friday. After we did that we went back and drove back to BURLEY! Where everyone is nice and things make sense.

Sunday:

Don't have time! Sorry. We basically had a meeting early in the morning and went out with the Branch Mission Leader to invite people to the Meridian Temple Open House

Love you all!

Sorry for the lack of detail on the two most important days but I didn't plan very well this time
