The Rebel Hair Cut


Tuesday:

Pretty normal day. We met with one of the Branch Missionaries. He seems like he has connections and will be able to help us get in to teach some people.

Wednesday:

Also a normal day. We were walking around and some people honked at us and said "HEY ELDERS!" We waved and kept walking, but they wanted to talk to us. It was a film crew making a safety video for the MTC. They had two missionaries with them that served in our area not too long ago who were helping someone hold something onto the back of a truck but the wind picked it up and took them with it. They survived and look OK now. I had heard about that story from a family a few weeks ago but yeah, apparently there are lessons to be learned from their story.

Thursday:

Weekly Planning! Which means we don't really leave the house until after lunch. Nothing much else of interest happened except we did exchanges with the Zone Leaders Thursday night (Elder Hodge is the District Leader so we go on exchanges a lot).

Friday:

I spent the whole day in an area that wasn't mine! So I let Elder Lindeman do most of the talking. I ate a Habanero, pretty hot, tastes like the Shut-up Juice, but didn't last too long. We did some service finally too! We raked and bagged grass in someone's backyard. She also had an apple tree, with lots of (rotten) apples underneath it. Basically my service shoes live at the front door now. I also found out why so many people know where Farmer's Corner is, they have some good food there. It just looks like a gas station from the outside, but apparently it has been there forever.

Saturday:

We painted a house white. That was kinda fun. We also finally met the YSA who we creeped out a while back by pulling in then rolling out of their driveway on a Monday night. He seems pretty cool and didn't seem to remember us, so that is good!

Sunday:

Pretty normal Sunday. We had Branch Council in the morning right before church and had dinner with a family from the Branch. We had some spicy stuff and beans and chicken with tortillas. It was pretty good!

Monday:

I got a haircut today! I asked where the missionaries go to do it and I was told Rebel Hair Studio. So that's where we went. We went to get an oil change and The View was on TV in the waiting room. That may have been the longest hour of my life. We went to DI and I bought a "Learn Russian" thing. It was a dollar and has like 4 CDs of lessons, couldn't pass it up. Then we went to Walmart. We had lunch and now I am here writing emails!

Oh yeah, my missionary portal says that I am now enrolled in the "Safeguards for Using Technology" Course...

Wow! This week was really good. I know because it felt like a few days, but looking back it contained a month of top quality content. Service: We did service at the Barnyard again. This week they had us pound in like 20 T-posts. They fenced in their entire front yard because too many chickens crossed the road. T: "We just can't figure out what it is that they want out there in the road..." Me (In my mind because I'm not that bold): An escape from their cruel existence? Anyway, I still saw the pig. This is the sow, they moved her in on her own because she is going to have babies and they don't want the other pigs to eat them... Pigs are pigs. S: On Tuesday, we went to read the Book of Mormon with S. As we were talking to him, he told us to follow him to the basement house to see if we could pick up his ammo can full of pennies. VACA!

THIS WEEK This format of email seemed to work well while I was in the MTC. So I'm going to do it like this again today. Tuesday: Tuesday was preparation day. We  went to Twin Falls. It was kinda rough because we had to go with some other Elders and it took longer than expected. But we did get all we needed. I will send you pics.  Wednesday: We went to Oakley! We got lost trying to find dinner and got the Cruze stuck in the mud. We are going to ask for the RAV4, anyway, I found some dead brush and stuck it under the wheel and we escaped. We had dinner and then went to visit a less active family to see how they were doing. We got lost and almost went to Utah. But we didn't. We went to go visit some other families but nobody was home. I don't remember what day this happened, but we also ended up behind the Oakley reservoir, I got pics. I'm fairly certain we visited Walter today too. He is a legend.                     Elder Blashill y Yo                    Introduction of Characters: -Elder Blashill:  Mí compañero por el CCM. He's from Amarillo, TX and is also going to Boise. - Elder Utrilla:  Another missionary in our room. From Utah and going to Argentina. -Elder Hutchison:  Also in our room, from Utah and going to Ventura California. -Elder Foley:  Had 11 years of Spanish classes, but chose to be in the intermediate class instead of the native speaker class because he wanted más training en el CCM. From New Jersey and going to Logan Utah. Summary: So we recently found out that the only reason our district (the missionaries in my Spanish class, 6 companionships) has tablets is because Elder Foley is going on a tablet mission, so everyone else in the class gets a tablet to use cuando en el CCM.
